Prime minister casts vote in municipal elections in Belarus

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov has cast his vote as part of the campaign to elect members of the municipal councils of deputies, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov and his spouse cast their votes at polling station No.52 of Vesnyansky electoral district No.39 in Minsk's Tsentralny District.

The municipal elections campaign is supposed to elect 18,111 members of 1,309 municipal councils of deputies. As many as 22,289 candidates have been registered for participation in the municipal elections campaign.

In comparison with the previous elections the number of candidates vying for the seats in the municipal councils of deputies has not changed for all intents and purposes while the average number of candidates per constituency has increased slightly.
