Poland's assistance in attracting EU funds to prompt local border traffic regime with Belarus

MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) - Poland's assistance in attracting EU funds for the modernization of the Belarusian-Polish infrastructure will prompt the commencement of the local border traffic agreement between Belarus and Poland, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 29 September, BelTA has learned.

“Currently Belarus is studying the practice of the implementation of the similar agreements of Belarus with Latvia, and also those of Poland with Russia and Ukraine. We are analyzing the current trends, including economic results. Taking into account today's movement of people in both directions the present capacity of the Belarusian-Polish border is nearing its highest point,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

According to Dmitry Mironchik, here it is crucial to assess the readiness of the border infrastructure to work in new conditions, i.e. when the number of people crossing the border is likely to go up.
