Plans to hold meeting of Belarusian, British MPs during OSCE PA session in Minsk

MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Plans have been made to hold a meeting of Belarusian and British MPs during the 26th OSCE PA Annual Session in Minsk. Andrei Naumovich, Chairman of the Human Rights, National Relations, and Mass Media Commission of the House of Representatives, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Belarus Fionna Gibb discussed matters related to the organization of the meeting on 14 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian parliament.

The parties considered ways to step up the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. For instance, they discussed the possibility of holding a meeting on the sidelines of the 26th OSCE PA Annual Session in Minsk and organizing a visit of British MPs to Belarus.

Minsk will host the OSCE PA summer session from 5 to 9 July. The event will focus on ways to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation for peace and prosperity in the region. The event will feature a session of the OSCE PA Standing Committee and general committees on political affairs and security, economic affairs, science, technology and environment, democracy, human rights and humanitarian questions. The forum is expected to gather approximately 700 participants.

Belarus will submit the resolution “Development of timely and effective legislative, regulatory, and administrative measures for addressing the emergence of new psychotropic substances” for consideration at the OSCE PA session in Minsk.
