MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Germany enjoy vigorous and diversified bilateral relations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Belarus Peter Dettmar said at a function held on 3 October to mark the Day of German Unity, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat stressed that over the 25 years of diplomatic relations the two states have come a long way to the intensification of cooperation. He expressed confidence that the two countries would continue developing active ties.

The diplomat stressed that the Belarusian society and government are ready to continue dialogue and jointly honor the memory of the past, which testifies to the depth of the Belarusian-German relations.

Peter Dettmar pointed to the importance of the unification of Germany, which took place "27 years ago, peacefully and in harmony with partners and neighbors." This is a large peace project, the diplomat said, emphasizing the great role of the then Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl in the unification process. In his opinion, 27 years of German unity is an occasion for joy. This event calls to fight new challenges.
