Parties to Ukraine conflict make progress on detainee lists

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – The parties to the conflict in Ukraine have agreed on several positions regarding the lists of detainees, OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group Martin Sajdik told the media on 2 August, BelTA has learned.

The ambassador welcomed the agreement on the protection of critical infrastructure reached by the Normandy Four leaders during a telephone conversation on 24 July. He also welcomed the support and efforts of the leaders to get heavy weapons and means withdrawn from the contact line. It is important that the leaders stressed the role of the OSCE SMM and agreed on the need for urgent action by the parties to the conflict to ensure full safety of the mission's personnel and their free movement,” Ambassador Martin Sajdik noted.

The working group on humanitarian issues had a meeting via videoconferencing on 31 July. “The sides have coordinated several more positions regarding the lists of detained persons,” Ambassador Martin Sajdik said.

The working group on security issues continued discussing ways to ensure security at the facilities of vital civilian infrastructure. The group also made progress in discussing the list of new areas of disengagement of forces and hardware.
