Over 70 agreements signed at Belarus-Russia forum of regions in Mogilev

MOGILEV, 12 October (BelTA) – Over 70 regional agreements have been signed at the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told the media on 12 October, BelTA has learned.

“We seemed to have had a lot of agreements. But we have signed 76 new regional agreements during the forum. They have been concluded not necessarily at the level of regions or krais. Smaller towns also get involved in this process. They cooperate actively not only in humanitarian affairs but also in economy,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

He noted that Belarusian regions have established cooperation with the majority of the Russian Federation entities at the regional level. Special focus is placed on the development of direct ties.

Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko also highlighted the importance of interregional cooperation. According to her, some regions are spearheaders of such cooperation. “We want other entities of the Russian Federation and Belarus to catch up with the spearheaders,” Valentina Matviyenko added.
