MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) - President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Christine Muttonen plans to visit Belarus in March, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus' National Assembly Boleslav Pirshtuk told reporters.

Preparations for the next session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly due in Minsk on 5-9 July 2017 will be high on the agenda of the visit. “We will define the format and discuss other things regarding the event,” Boleslav Pirshtuk said. According to him, Belarus has already begun arrangements for the session. The substantial part will be determined next year.

It is expected that the Belarusian capital will host approximately 700 participants, including more than 500 MPs from 56 countries. Boleslav Pirshtuk noted that for Belarus the OSCE PA session will be a good opportunity to position itself, to establish closer contacts with the participating states.

At the moment, the MPs are preparing for the OSCE winter meeting to be held in Vienna in February 2017 where a presentation of Belarus is to be arranged.
