Opinion: Minsk Dialogue will help generate new ideas for addressing international issues

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – The Minsk Dialogue forum will help generate new ideas for addressing important issues on the current international agenda, Suren Sargsyan, co-founder of Armenia's international and comparative law center, former adviser to the prime minister of Armenia, told the media on 24 May, BelTA has learned.

Suren Sargsyan noted that the format chosen for the forum "Eastern Europe: In Search of Security for All" is interesting. “Thanks to these events, there are always new ideas and approaches, which are suggested by experts and politicians and diplomats,” he said. The topic of the forum is important not only for post-Soviet countries and Europe, but also for the United States and China, whose representatives are also taking part in the Minsk Dialogue,” he added.

The expert stressed the importance of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko's participation in the forum. Representatives of more than 40 countries will be able to learn firsthand about the priorities of the Belarusian foreign policy.

The international forum “Eastern Europe: In Search of Security for All” is underway as part of the Minsk Dialogue initiative in the Belarusian capital on 23-25 May. Minsk Dialogue Forum 2018 will represent the next milestone in the initiative's development. It will launch a large annual gathering of leading experts from Eastern Europe, the EU, Russia, the United States, and China. The forum will provide a new platform for discussions about the present and the future of the regional and international security.
