No alternative to Minsk talks in resolving conflict in Ukraine's east for now

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – The trilateral contact group on Ukraine remains the only permanent format for resolving the conflict in Ukraine's east, BelTA learned from the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik on 18 January.

In particular, the diplomat said he hopes that the year 2018 will be the decisive one for implementing the Minsk agreements. “Today we've agreed the schedule for our future meetings till the end of summer. I'd like to note that the trilateral contact group on Ukraine remains the only permanent format for resolving the conflict in Ukraine's east, a format that works towards a solution and addresses such topical problems as the exchange of detainees,” said the diplomat.

The trilateral contact group on Ukraine will reconvene on 31 January.
