Mutual recognition of visas depends on leaders of Belarus, Russia

MOSCOW, 10 December (BelTA) – It is up to the presidents of Belarus and Russia to make a decision on the mutual recognition of visas between the two states, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota told reporters at a conference in Moscow timed to the 20th anniversary of the Union State Treaty, BelTA has learned.

“The agreement on the mutual recognition of visas is ready. The heads of state just need to sign it. So we are looking forward to it,” Grigory Rapota said.

The conference “The Union State: Achievements, problems, prospects” has brought together about 500 participants from Belarus and Russia. They represent all branches of power, the academic and cultural community and the biggest mass media. In addition to the plenary session, the conference comprises six thematic sessions to discuss harmonization of legislations, formation of a common economic space, upgrade of transport infrastructure, social policy in the Union State, joint efforts to combat terrorism, and cooperation in security matters.
