MPs to discuss Belarus-Russia Union military doctrine

MOSCOW, 16 October (BelTA) – A session of the Security, Defense, and Crime Control Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia will take place in Kaliningrad on 24 October. Participants of the session will discuss progress in working out the Military Doctrine of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly told BelTA.

Members of the commission will be made familiar with progress in working out the Military Doctrine of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and with results of the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017, said the press service.

Participants of the session will also discuss future advancement of cooperation between the border services, customs services, and migration services of Belarus and Russia at the Union State's border with the European Union. Apart from that, they will discuss ways to improve transport security in the Belarus-Russia Union.

Representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the Belarusian and Russian interior ministries, the State Security Committee of Belarus and the Federal Security Service of Russia, the State Border Committee of Belarus, and the Belarusian and Russian transport ministries have been invited to participate in the commission's work.

While members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia are in Kaliningrad Oblast, they are expected to meet with Chairwoman of the Kaliningrad Oblast Parliament Marina Orgeyeva and members of the International and Interregional Relations, Security, and Law Enforcement Committee of the Kaliningrad Oblast Parliament. The MPs will also visit the boarding school Sea Cadet Corps.
