Moldova praises Belarus' CEI presidency

MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – Belarus' presidency in the Central European Initiative is commendable, Deputy Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament Vladimir Vitiuc told the media in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“Our delegation has great expectations of the forthcoming meeting of the CEI Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk. We highly appreciate the activities of Belarus as the CEI President. A number of documents important for all participants of the CEI Parliamentary Assembly and for the development of IT technologies has been finalized. I think tomorrow we will hear a number of proposals regarding the further development of the IT technologies,” Vladimir Vitiuc said.

He noted that Moldova has a number of developments in IT, both legislative and also technical. “We know that many CEI countries, notably Belarus, have considerable capacities and experience in this field. We would like us to share the developments which our countries have,” the vice speaker added.

Delegations of 13 countries will take part in the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative in Minsk on 28 November. Invitations to attend the event have been sent to members of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, scientists, and representatives of the real sector of the economy, including the heads of major innovative and high-tech companies.

The general theme of the CEI Parliamentary Assembly meeting in Minsk is digital technologies in terms of ensuring geopolitical security. The meeting will discuss the development of the digital economy in the context of ensuring information security, digital banking technologies, the adoption of legislative, organizational and other measures to support the development of IT products, unmanned driving technologies, artificial intelligence, biotechnology.

Belarus presides in the Central European Initiative (CEI) in 2017. This regional association includes 18 countries. The main task of the CEI is to promote flexible and pragmatic European regional cooperation in order to prevent the emergence of new dividing lines in Europe.
