Minsk to host CEI Meeting of Heads of Government

MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) - The Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Central European Initiative (CEI) will take place in Minsk on 12 December, BelTA has learned.

The event will focus on the increasing role of the CEI member states in promoting compatibility and complementarity of different integration processes in Greater Europe, including the unification of efforts against new threats to stability in the region and strengthening pragmatic economic cooperation between different integration formats.

The participants of the event are also expected to consider the CEI plan of actions for 2018-2020. It is the main document of the organization, which outlines the areas of future activity for the member states.

The CEI presidency will go to Croatia in 2018.

Minsk hosted the meeting of the CEI ministers of foreign affairs in June 2017 as part of Belarus' presidency in the organization. The ministerial conference on science, which was also a success, focused on the development of biotechnologies and pharmaceuticals. For the first time in the CEI history Belarus held a meeting of the heads of the chambers of commerce and industry of the CEI member states.
