Minsk suggested as venue for counter-terrorism event coorganized with UN

MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei suggested organizing a regional counter-terrorism event jointly with the United Nations during his meeting with Vladimir Voronkov, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, at the UN Headquarters in New York, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Vladimir Makei congratulated the Russian diplomat on his new appointment, noting the global importance for fighting against terrorism. The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs suggested organizing a regional event jointly with the UN in Minsk,” the ministry said.

Vladimir Voronkov expressed readiness to assist the strengthening of cooperation between the United Nations and Belarus and support Belarus' initiatives in the area, both in the national and the CSTO format.
