MFA: Belarus will ensure smooth negotiation process on Ukraine in Minsk

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) - Belarus will take all measures to ensure that the Ukraine negotiation process in Minsk runs smoothly, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told reporters when commenting on the provocation attempt after the meeting of the trilateral contact group on Ukraine in Minsk on 15 February, BelTA has learned.

“The press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs views this action as a deliberate provocation aimed at disrupting the negotiating process and discrediting the Minsk negotiating platform. The Belarusian side will continue to take all measures to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the trilateral contact group and will immediately stop all attempts to hinder its work,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

A group of persons, with Russian passports and press cards of the public and political internet portal Russkaya Planeta, introduced themselves as representatives of The Other Russia party (unregistered in the Russian Federation) and made an attempt to disrupt the press conference of OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Ambassador Martin Sajdik in Minsk on 15 February. They threw leaflets and shouted slogans trying to disrupt the press conference of Ambassador Martin Sajdik. They were quickly removed by law enforcement officials from the room.
