MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – The drones used by the OSCE's special monitoring mission in Ukraine are bought at the expense of taxpayers in the OSCE member states, BelTA learned from Martin Sajdik, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine, in Minsk on 27 July when asked about the recent incidents involving the OSCE mission's drones in the conflict zone in Ukraine.
Martin Sajdik said: “These drones are rather expensive. They are bought at the expense of the OSCE member states and ultimately taxpayers in these countries.”
The OSCE press service stated earlier that on 25 July communication was lost with one of the drones the OSCE mission in Ukraine was using to monitor the conflict zone. Parts of the crashed drone were handed over by the Ukrainian army to OSCE representatives on 26 July. Other drones were also fired at on 25 July. However, those drones were not damaged and returned safely to their operators.
