MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) - Belarus will continue playing its role of a regional security donor, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media following a meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus has never been a source of instability in the region and has no such intentions in the future. We are determined to continue playing the role of a regional security donor. We are ready to openly discuss all the problematic matters, including sensitive issues, with our partners,” Vladimir Makei said.
He thanked Mr Johannes Hahn for the open and frank approach to discussion. “We have known each other for a long time, and I am confident that we will consider all the issues in our relations in the same spirit and discuss the prospects of our cooperation openly,” the minister noted.
Vladimir Makei is convinced that the current visit of Mr Johannes Hahn will play its role in the further strengthening of the Belarus-EU relations.
