MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Belarus is totally against new confrontations and dividing lines in Europe, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at the international conference One Year of Minsk-II Accords. Achievements, Challenges and Lessons Learned on 11 February, BelTA informs.
Vladimir Makei noted that the modern world needs the logic of creation and integration rather than the logic of dissociation and competition more than ever. Different views on internal government processes and foreign policy milestones should not be the reason for confrontations and new dividing lines. On the contrary, an ample use of opportunities and advantages by every state can make an important contribution to the creation of strong and prosperous Europe. “We believe that the quick and real implementation of the ‘integration of integrations' initiative can help. In our opinion, it meets the interests of Russia, Ukraine, and EU countries,” the minister said.
Vladimir Makei noted that the traditions of the Belarusian statehood relying on the centuries-old experience of building relations with eastern and western neighbors have to a large extent shaped the nation's commitment to peace and accord, and the creative focus of the Belarusian foreign policy. This is the source of Belarus' willingness to do its best to ensure stability and security in the region, promote the regulation of the situation in Ukraine, the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs said.
