MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – Disagreements in the relations between Belarus and Russia are temporary and the presidents of the two countries will find the solution to the problems, CIS Executive Secretary, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev told the media on 7 February, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus and Russia have always enjoyed close friendship, especially on the back of the relations with other states, for instance,” Sergei Lebedev noted. The CIS Executive Secretary is confident that the two countries will find common language on arguable points. “It is the same as in every family: disagreements happen. However, I am confident that the two states have wise leaders who will find the solution. I think these complications are temporary,” he said.
The Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee is absolutely convinced that these temporary difficulties will not affect the Commonwealth of Independent States. “Both Russia and Belarus are strong advocates of preserving and strengthening of the CIS. I have heard this repeatedly from both the presidents, the heads of government and at many public forums. The CIS will remain, I am sure. I think that these temporary tensions in the relations between Russia and Belarus will never affect the cooperation in the CIS,” said Sergei Lebedev.
