Lavrov: Russia has no intention of rewriting Minsk accords on Ukraine

MOSCOW, 17 January (BelTA) – Russia has no intention of rewriting the Minsk accords on Ukraine, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference for foreign and Russian journalists on 17 January, BelTA has learned.

“As for the Minsk accords, I have no intention of rewriting them. They were approved by the unanimously adopted resolution of the United Nations Security Council. I have not heard France or Germany, who are members of the Normandy Four, Donetsk or Lugansk, members of the contact group, suggest rewriting these agreements. On the contrary, the entire international community continually reiterates that there is no alternative to the Minsk accords,” Sergei Lavrov noted.

The diplomat added that he also heard that the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump called for ‘burying' the Minsk accords and settling the Ukrainian crisis in a different way.
