BUDAPEST, 27 November (BelTA) - Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis is scheduled to visit Belarus in February 2018. The preparation of the visit was discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov and his Latvian counterpart in Budapest on 27 November, BelTA has learned.
“Traditionally, we try to fill the visits of high officials with serious content. I would like the visit of the Latvian prime minister to Belarus to result in a number of projects and documents. I think we still have time to work on them and prepare properly,” Andrei Kobyakov noted.
Belarus is interested in the further development of trade and economic cooperation with Latvia. Particular attention is paid to investment cooperation. Belarus is home to companies with Latvian capital. In Latvia there are a lot of Belarusian companies.
Prospects for bolstering ties in logistics are great. Latvia has access to the sea and a good port infrastructure. A large logistic center (a kind of ‘dry port') is being built in the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone. “We hope to see the Latvian capital in the park. I think you will be interested to link the port infrastructure with the capabilities of our ‘dry port',” Andrei Kobyakov said.
Maris Kucinskis, for his part, said that he will be happy to visit Belarus and make a trip to the Great Stone industrial park. “We have plans to promote cooperation,” the Latvia prime minister assured.
Andrei Kobyakov is in Budapest for the Central Eastern European Countries and China 16+1 heads of government summit on 27 November. He is scheduled to have bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.
