Kobyakov, Kucinskis discuss Belarusian-Latvian cooperation in Minsk

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – Minsk is playing host to the meeting between Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov and Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis, BelTA has learned.

The heads of government of the two countries are set to discuss the ways of intensifying the Belarusian-Latvian cooperation in various fields, the preparations for the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship that Belarus and Latvia will co-host in 2021.

The parties are scheduled to sign a number of agreements on cooperation.

In January-November 2017 the Belarus-Latvia trade amounted to $398 million (up 27% over the same period a year prior). Belarusian exports reached $316.6 million (up 27%), imports came at $81.4 million (up 27.4%). Belarus' major exports to Latvia include petroleum products, forestry and timber products, petrochemicals, metal products, fertilizers, insulated wires and cables, construction materials, spirits, salt, corsetry, furniture. Latvia's major exports to Belarus are medicines, machinery, food products, textile and plastic products.
