Japan officially supports Belarus' WTO accession

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – A protocol on the completion of the bilateral talks between Belarus and Japan on Belarus' accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) was signed in Geneva on 27 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The document was signed by Belarus' Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva Yuri Ambrazevich and Japan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva Junichi Ihara.

Yuri Ambrazevich praised the intensification of the political and economic dialogue between Belarus and Japan and expressed hope that Belarus' WTO accession would promote further expansion of the trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Japan is the 12th WTO member with which Belarus completed the bilateral talks on the accession to the organization. In the near future Belarus plans to sign bilateral protocols with other WTO member states.
