MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – It is important for the CIS member states to defend the interests of the commonwealth in the international arena, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergei Lebedev told journalists on 23 April, BelTA informs.
Minsk is hosting a meeting of the CIS permanent plenipotentiaries on 23 April. They are discussing the results of the Foreign Ministers Council's meeting held in Minsk in early April. According to Sergei Lebedev, the ministerial consultations on topical issues of cooperation between the CIS countries on the international arena are the most important matter on the agenda of the Foreign Ministers Council. “Today, it is very important to coordinate our actions in the international arena. It is very important to defend the interests of the CIS countries together,” he believes.
When commenting on the meeting of the CIS foreign ministers in general, Sergei Lebedev pointed that it had brought results at a high level. The CIS plenipotentiaries are to evaluate the results of the meeting and map out measures to implement the decisions made by the foreign ministers.
