MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – There is hope that Ukraine will eventually resume full participation in the CIS, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told the media ahead of the session of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries of the CIS member states on 20 July, BelTA has learned.
“Ukraine is a CIS member de jure. Ukrainian representatives attend some sessions held within the framework of the CIS. Unfortunately, there has been a rapid decline in Ukraine's activity in the CIS,” Sergei Lebedev noted.
He expressed hope that the country will eventually resume full participation in this integration association because it “meets the interests of the whole CIS and Ukraine itself.”
