Hope for tighter Belarus-China cooperation in One Belt, One Road initiative

LOGOISK DISTRICT, 6 May (BelTA) – China counts on tighter cooperation with Belarus taking into account the One Belt, One Road initiative, in which implementation Belarus is taking an active part. The statement was made by Qiu Zheng, a representative of the Heilongjiang Broadcast and Television Station, who is in Belarus on a media trip.

The reporter noted: “Belarus takes an active part in the implementation of the One Belt, One Road initiative. Taking into account this fact we expect further advancement of our bilateral relations.”

Qiu Zheng also shared his impressions of talking to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. “We had an opportunity to make sure that close contacts between Belarus and China have been established. A lot was said about trade, economic, and investment cooperation, interaction in cultural and educational affairs, humanitarian exchange. We asked about Harbin's [the capital of Heilongjiang Province] participation in the joint implementation of the One Belt, One Road initiative. Just like Belarus Harbin is busy developing agriculture. This is why we have a lot of contact points and we are interested in continued cooperation with your country. Besides, a Harbin investment company has already become a shareholder in the industrial park Great Stone,” said Qiu Zheng.

In his opinion, Belarus and China have a lot in common and have a lot to learn from each other. Apart from that, the reporter admitted he likes educated Belarusian people, who he had been able to talk to. He said he also liked the historical and cultural places that media trip participants had been able to visit.

Chinese reporters are in Belarus on a media trip that will last till 7 May. On 6 May they visited the historical and cultural complex Stalin Line, the World War Two memorial Khatyn, the skiing sport and recreation center Logoisk, and the food company Veles-Mit.
