Hahn expresses readiness to discuss key components of Belarus-EU cooperation agreement

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) - European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn stated the readiness to start expert work on the key components of a comprehensive agreement on cooperation between Belarus and the European Union as he met with Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov in Luxembourg, BelTA has learned.

The parties also discussed the interaction of Belarus with the International Monetary Fund, including the assistance that the European institutions could provide to advance the negotiations.

Johannes Hahn expressed the willingness on behalf of the European Union to assist Belarus in carrying out the economic reforms and creating new jobs.

Speaking on the preparations for the Eastern Partnership summit, the European commissioner underlined that Belarus is the only country of the six Eastern Partnership member states that has no conflict in its territory. This fact is highly appreciated in the EU.
