German parliamentary delegation plans to visit Belarus in June

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko met with outgoing Ambassador of Germany to Belarus Peter Dettmar, BelTA has learned.

The visit of the German-Belarusian parliamentary group at the Bundestag to Minsk is scheduled for 20-23 June. Vladimir Andreichenko noted that these days Belarus will be hosting the 2nd European Games. Belarus, he said, is preparing a packed program for the German MPs. “We look forward to discussing the issues of further interaction,” he said.

Vladimir Andreichenko hailed the ambassador's personal contribution to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in all areas and development of political dialogue. During Peter Dettmar's time in office a number of high-level visits were organized, inter-parliamentary contacts intensified. The work in this area will be continued. The speaker has high expectations of the work of the Belarusian-German Bundestag parliamentary group and the working group at the National Assembly of Belarus.

Vladimir Andreichenko described the cooperation in international organizations as very important avenue of cooperation. He recalled that Bundestag MPs co-sponsored Belarus' OSCE PA resolution on digital economy. This year Belarus has prepared a resolution on technological forecast. The speaker expressed the hope that the German MPs will support this document at the OSCE PA session in Luxembourg.

The parties discussed the prospects for trade and economic cooperation. Belarus looks forward to an inflow of German investments in the regions. Peter Dettmar, in his turn, noted the importance of further increasing the number of German companies working in Belarus. He informed that the visits of two large business delegations from Germany are planned for mid-June. They are planning to hold talks with senior officials of the ministries, to visit the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone.
