Geneva to host event to mark 20 years since withdrawal of nuclear weapons from Belarus

MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – An event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the withdrawal by the Republic of Belarus of nuclear weapons will take place in Geneva. The event will be attended by Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov, spokesman for Belarus' Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 23 February, BelTA has learned.

“Valentin Rybakov is expected to attend the event to mark 20 years of the withdrawal of nuclear weapons from Belarus. The event was initiated by the Belarusian side,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

Valentin Rybakov is set to visit Geneva from 27 February to 2 March. He will attend the high-level segments of the Conference on Disarmament and the UN Human Rights Council. Valentin Rybakov will also hold working meetings with heads of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Telecommunication Union, and the UNICEF Regional Office for Central, Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
