Foreign ministries of Belarus, Russia to hold joint social media information campaigns

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia have plans to hold joint social media information campaigns to celebrate common historical dates and events. The plans were discussed during the ministerial consultations on information support for foreign policy activities in Minsk on 19 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The parties discussed the experience of the foreign ministries of the two countries in the application of advanced mechanisms of work in the information sphere, including digital diplomacy. In this context, they emphasized the importance of holding joint information campaigns on social media to celebrate common historical dates and events,” the press service said.

Special attention was paid to the provision of information support for the Eurasian Economic Union, in particular, for the effort to raise the international profile of the EAEU. The participants also spoke about the cooperation on information-related matters in international organizations.

The Belarusian delegation to the consultations was led by spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik. The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Bikantov.
