EU to consider removing all sanctions against Belarus

MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) - European Commissioners will discuss the removal of all sanctions against Belarus. This topic was discussed during an official visit of Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin to Belgium, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Government.

“In Brussels Anatoly Kalinin met with European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn to discuss the strategy and participation of Belarus in the Eastern Partnership, one of the most important international projects. In addition, Anatoly Kalinin raised the issue of possible full withdrawal of the EU sanctions against Belarus. Johannes Hahn said he will discuss this with his fellow commissioners,” the press service said.

At a meeting with European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc the parties agreed that the joint projects of co-financing the regions will go through the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development and Belinvestbank.

The Belarusian delegation visited Ghelamco Arena, one of the most advanced football stadiums in Belgium. The Belarusian politicians also met with the executives of the port of Ghent to discuss possible cooperation of enterprises of the two countries. Belarus was offered to use the services of the port in the transportation of potash fertilizers.

The Belarusian delegation also visited Antwerp to get familiar with the unique experience in sea cargo transportation, and to examine possible joint projects.
