TASHKENT, 24 June (BelTA) - The main area of activity of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is ensuring security throughout the entire territory of the organization, Russian President Vladimir Putin said when speaking at the SCO summit in Tashkent.
“The main focus of the overall work is ensuring security across the SCO. There is a need to continue to ramp up the capacity of the regional anti-terrorist structure, and to improve the coordination between law enforcement agencies within the UN and other international organizations,” Vladimir Putin said.
There is also a need to speed up the preparation of an anti-extremism convention of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and to strengthen the legal framework of cooperation in information security, the Russian leader added.
