Elections 2016. OSCE/ODIHR observation mission arrives in Belarus 31 July

MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) – The OSCE/ODIHR observation mission for the parliamentary elections will arrive in Belarus on 31 July, Chairwoman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina told reporters, BelTA has learned.

"The OSCE/ODIHR mission arrives in the country on Sunday, 31 July. The Central Election Commission will host a meeting with the mission leadership on 2 August,” Lidia Yermoshina informed.

According to her, the short-term observers will be led by Cayetana De Zulueta Owtram from Italy. She was born in Colombia, worked as a journalist since 1981. Now she is also a blogger. In 1996 she was elected to the Senate of Italy, and then to the House of Representatives of the Italian Parliament. She has not observed any of the previous elections in Belarus. However, she led the OSCE/ODIHR missions in Azerbaijan, Turkey, France, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.

All in all, the Central Election Commission accredited 193 international observers, 142 of them represent the CIS mission and 51 - OSCE/ODIHR.

In addition, the Central Election Commission accredited 8 representatives of political parties and public associations as national observers.
