MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – I expect a high voter turnout on 11 September, Dragomir Karic, Honorary Consul of Belarus to Belgrade, Chairman of the Serbia-Belarus Friendship Group in the Serbian Parliament, told BelTA. Dragomir Karic has been accredited to monitor the parliamentary elections in Belarus in the capacity of international observer.
Dragomir Karic pointed out that he traditionally participates in the monitoring of elections in Belarus. In the current electoral campaign, he has already visited two polling stations to monitor early voting. Dragomir Karic said that he talked with national observers, members of election commissions and voters who came to cast their ballots early. All of them were satisfied with the way the elections are progressing. “I can say that everything goes well, without any problems,” he noted.
“Belarusians actively participate in early voting, and I expect the same level of activity on Election Day, 11 September. I think that the voter turnout will be high. This will be a busy yet festive day,” Dragomir Karic believes. He has plans to visit at least ten polling stations on 11 September.
The Honorary Consul of Belarus to Belgrade said that since his first visit to Belarus in 1986, he has been a frequent guest to the country. “I am very interested in the processes that are going on in Belarus, and I am always happy to hear good news about Belarus,” Dragomir Karic said.
According to the official information provided by the Central Election Commission of Belarus, as many as 827 international observers have been accredited to monitor the 11 September elections. They are gradually arriving in Belarus. A total of 341 accredited observers represent OSCE/ODIHR, with 334 observers representing the CIS.
