EEU presidents approve new composition of Eurasian Economic Commission

MOSCOW, 22 December (BelTA) – EEU leaders approved a new composition of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) at the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Commission in Moscow on 21 December. The session was attended by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA learned from Chairman of the EEC Board Viktor Khristenko.

Viktor Khristenko said that the new EEC Board will include ten people: two representatives of all five member states of the EEU. “Five people have been working in the board since its establishment, three people have joined it after the accession of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, two people are new members. Therefore, the continuity in the EEC Board has been ensured,” Viktor Khristenko specified that the renewed board will start to fulfill its duties on 1 February 2016.

On 1 February Viktor Khristenko will leave the office of the chairman of the EEC Board. During the previous summit EEU presidents approved the appointment of former Armenia prime minister Tigran Sargsyan as the chairman of the EEC Board.

Viktor Khristenko said that during the session the heads of state approved the budgets of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the EEU Court. He stressed that the leaders decided not to recalculate the salaries of workers of these international organizations because of the difficult economic situation.
