Ecuador's National Assembly to set up group of inter-parliamentary cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – A group of inter-parliamentary cooperation with Belarus will be set up at the National Assembly of Ecuador soon, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Ecuador.

On 19 June Belarus' Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ecuador Igor Poluyan met with President of the National Assembly of Ecuador Elizabeth Cabezas. The parties discussed the inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and the exchange of visits of the Belarusian and Ecuadorian legislators. Consideration was also given to the ways of intensifying practical cooperation within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Latin American Parliament (Belarus has the observer status in PARLATINO).

As BelTA reported earlier, the expansion of the Belarusian-Ecuadorian inter-parliamentary interaction was considered during an official visit of Ecuador's Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces to Belarus on 17-19 May. During the negotiations and meetings in Minsk the parties agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
