BRUSSELS, 24 November (BelTA) – The final declaration of the Eastern Partnership Initiative summit matches Belarus' expectations. It is directed towards future and contains no confrontational rhetoric, BelTA learned from Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei after the summit.
Vladimir Makei said: “I believe it has been one of the most successful summits. Because for the first time in the last few years the final declaration of the summit was passed without any special arguments. Just like we suggested to our partners once, this declaration matches our expectations. It is directed towards future on the whole. It does not contain confrontational rhetoric. It is not aimed against third countries, which also closely follow the development of the Eastern Partnership Initiative.”
On the whole, according to Vladimir Makei, the summit went in a positive manner. “In our speech we outlined our vision of how the situation in the region may develop and world order development prospects. We talked about the initiatives put forward by the Belarusian head of state in the past and why it is necessary to direct attention to these initiatives and develop them,” he noted.
Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei also had a number of bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of the European Union member states and the Eastern Partnership Initiative partner countries. The development of bilateral relations and interaction with the European Union were discussed during these meetings.
