MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – While speaking to the media after his meeting with Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei on 26 September Minister of State for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Alan Duncan said he was satisfied with the results of his visit to Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Thank you for welcoming me here. This is my first visit, but there will be much more, said Alan Duncan. The UK minister took note of the satisfactory results of the visit, which he is going to tell Theresa May [the UK Prime Minister] about.

The UK minister named his visit to Minsk symbolic as the two countries celebrate 25 years of diplomatic relations in 2017. “I hope that 25 years that are waiting for us ahead will allow us to do a lot," Alan Duncan said. He added that he was glad to discuss the most different issues of the bilateral cooperation which could be improved and strengthened in the coming years.

Alan Duncan emphasized that the UK would continue paying great attention to the development of relations with Belarus. Everything will be done for the progress that Belarus has achieved so far to be recognized worldwide, he added.
