Draft agreement on status and privileges of ICRC in Belarus discussed in Minsk

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - A draft agreement on the status and privileges of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Belarus was discussed during a meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

“On 17 May the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting between representatives of the Belarusian government bodies and officials of the regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Russia, Belarus and Moldova. The parties discussed the draft agreement submitted by the ICRC on the status and privileges of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Republic of Belarus which is aimed at creating the legal conditions for the opening of an ICRC office in Belarus,” the press service said.

The parties exchanged views and reached common understanding on a number of provisions of the draft agreement and also discussed the ways of stepping cooperation between Belarus and the ICRC.
