The CEC head noted a significant interest in the election supervision on the part of foreign diplomatic missions. “We have already received applications from the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the French Embassy and the UK Embassy. I think that others will follow. By the way, the Chinese Embassy representatives also inquired about the election and, perhaps, will also apply,” Lidia Yermoshina noted.

She added that international observers are free to choose any polling stations for observation. The term of office of a foreign observer at the elections to the local councils of deputies starts on 13 February and expires on the main election day, 18 February, after the vote count.

They applied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the CEC. The matter is about nine employees of the U.S. Embassy, among whom is the Charge d'affaires a.i.
