CSTO security council secretaries to meet online on 17 November

MOSCOW, 12 November (BelTA) – A session of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be held via videoconferencing on 17 November, BelTA learned from CSTO spokesperson Vladimir Zainetdinov.

“Members of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils are set to discuss challenges and threats to the security of the CSTO member states in the current situation, the agenda of the upcoming session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, and performance of the coordination council of the heads of competent authorities to counteract illegal drug trafficking in the CSTO member states,” Vladimir Zainetdinov said.

Plans are also in place to consider and approve several draft resolutions of the CSTO Collective Security Council on military and technical, military cooperation, peacekeeping forces and assets of the CSTO collective rapid response forces, the CSTO anti-drugs strategy, and training of specialists for government agencies of the CSTO member states.

“The committee members are expected to sign a plan on the joint training of command bodies, troops, and assets of the CSTO collective security system in 2021 and a plan of consultations for the second half of 2020 – the first half of 2021,” the spokesperson added.

The session will be chaired by Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and will also feature CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas.
