Contact group on Ukraine discusses further exchange of detainees

MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – Further possible steps in the exchange of detainees were discussed at the meeting of the trilateral contact group on Ukraine in Minsk on 31 January, OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik told the media, BelTA informs.

“The working group on humanitarian affairs emphasized once again that the exchange of detainees in late December 2017 was a great achievement. Further possible steps were discussed in the presence of Viktor Medvedchuk,” said Martin Sajdik.

The working group on economic affairs focused its attention on the resumption of the operations of the mobile operator Vodafone on the territory of separate areas of Donetsk Oblast. “The parties agreed that it is of vital importance for the civilians living on both sides of the contact line. The issue needs a prompt solution. It is a truly complex problem. The working group on economic affairs also continued the discussion of payments for water delivery as part of the Karbonit and Voda Donbassa system, ways to repay debts to former employees of Ukrainian Railways in several districts of Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast, issues of environmental safety related to the flooding of coal mines in the conflict zone,” the diplomat said.
