CIS Economic Council discusses draft convention on peaceful uses of outer space

MOSCOW, 23 June (BelTA) – A draft CIS convention on peaceful uses of outer space was discussed during the session of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow on 23 June, the press service of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia told BelTA.

Participants of the session also discussed a new revision of the agreement on cooperation in veterinary science of 12 March 1993. A draft set of measures to implement the CIS agreement on cooperation in mining and metallurgy of 28 October 2016 and amendments to the resolution on budget classification of CIS bodies were also discussed.

Participants of the session also discussed results of the work of the coordinating council for intergovernmental courier communication in 2010-2016, progress in implementing the convention on international transportation of passengers and baggage by road of 9 October 1997, a concept of CIS interregional and border line cooperation for the period till 2020, and an action plan to implement the concept.

A Belarusian delegation took part in the session. It was led by Igor Petrishenko, Ambassador of Belarus to Russia, Belarus' special representative for integration cooperation within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Belarus' plenipotentiary representative in the CIS Economic Council.

The next session of the CIS Economic Council is supposed to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan on 8 September.
