Call for more accomplishments in Belarus-Ecuador relations

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Ecuador have accomplished a lot but even more needs to be done to advance the relations. Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces made the statement as she met with Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei on 18 May, BelTA has learned.

Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces said: “Belarus and Ecuador celebrate the 25th anniversary of their relations this year. We've accomplished a lot over this period but a lot more needs to be done to develop and enhance the relations.”

The diplomat noted it was an honor to be in Belarus on an official visit. The diplomat conveyed greetings from Ecuador President Lenin Moreno to the Belarusian nation and the government.

Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces said: “I am here so that we could once again revise the previous agreements.”

In turn, Vladimir Makei pointed out that Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko sets a high value on the advancement of relations with Ecuador. The Belarusian head of state made the relevant statement as he met with the Ecuadorian minister of foreign affairs earlier that day.

The meeting with the president focused on conceptual matters concerning the expansion of the bilateral relations. The Belarusian and Ecuadorian ministers of foreign affairs discussed concrete steps to advance the relations.
