British, Irish organizations to continue humanitarian projects in Belarus

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Representatives of British and Irish organizations have confirmed their readiness to continue working for the sake of rehabilitation of Belarusian children and the implementation of social and humanitarian projects in Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

These and other matters were discussed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Sergei Aleinik met with representatives of non-governmental organizations of Great Britain and Ireland, which provide humanitarian aid to Belarusians in areas affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe.

Participants of the meeting discussed the current state of affairs in the area of humanitarian contacts and prospects of advancing bilateral cooperation in this field. Sergei Aleinik underscored the important contribution of humanitarian organizations to stronger friendship between the countries, the advancement of human contacts, and efforts to secure sustainable development in the affected areas in Belarus.

The meeting took place in the Embassy of Belarus in London on 3 May. It was timed to International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day, which has been marked for the first time this year.
