Belarusian parliamentary delegation to visit Latvia early May

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – A Belarusian parliamentary delegation will visit Latvia in early May. The program of the upcoming visit to Riga was discussed during a meeting between Vice Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the Belarusian National Assembly Marianna Shchetkina and Latvia's Ambassador to Belarus Martins Virsis, BelTA has learned.

The visit will be held at the invitation of the Latvian side and is seen as an important step towards the further development of cooperation. “During the visit we will map out the ways of broadening and deepening the mutually beneficial ties, and will review the issues of common interest. It is very important for us to have partner relations with Latvia both at the level of the parliaments and also in politics, economy, and culture,” Marianna Shchetkina noted.

She expressed the view that the deepening of interaction between the Belarusian and Latvian MPs will bring concrete benefits for citizens of the two states.

Ambassador Martins Virsis noted that inter-parliamentary relations have been growing stronger in recent years. This is an important component of the cooperation between the two countries, the diplomat said.
