Belarusian parliament delegation to participate in OSCE PA winter session in Vienna

MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian parliament led by Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Boleslav Pirshtuk will take part in the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna, Austria, the press service of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament told BelTA.

The Belarusian parliament delegation will stay in Vienna on 21-24 February.

Participants of the winter session will discuss the main items on the OSCE agenda. Discussions about the development of long-term strategies for fighting climate change will be held as well as discussions about arms control in the OSCE space and support for democracy in the age of “fake news”.

The Belarusian delegation will attend sessions of the OSCE Standing Committee and three OSCE PA general committees (political affairs and security; economic affairs, science, technology, and environment; democracy, human rights, and humanitarian affairs). The delegation will also attend joint sessions of the committees.

Boleslav Pirshtuk and Deputy Chairwoman of the International Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Olga Popko are expected to make speeches about the main items on the agenda.
