Belarusian-Latvian intergovernmental commission helps advance relations between countries

MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – The joint work of the Belarusian-Latvian intergovernmental commission contributes to the development of comprehensive interaction between the countries. The statement was made by Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov during the 12th session of the Belarusian-Latvian intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation, BelTA has learned.

In his speech Evgeny Shestakov praised the effectiveness of the commission as a venue for advancing bilateral cooperation in economic affairs. The importance of working together to improve the transport infrastructure, transit opportunities and logistics chains was underlined. Evgeny Shestakov noted there are prospects for further advancing Belarus-Latvia cooperation in tourism, civil engineering, pharmaceutics, education services, healthcare and business services, sales of machines and equipment.

The session of the Belarusian-Latvian intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation took place in Minsk on 25 January. Participants of the session discussed the state and prospects of advancing Belarus-Latvia relations in trade, transport, transit and logistics, communications, power engineering, agriculture, food industry, and interregional cooperation.
