Belarusian diplomats instructed to focus on raising investments, organizing international forums

MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – On 15 July Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei held a conference with participants of the annual seminar of heads of diplomatic missions and consular institutions of Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

Vladimir Makei instructed the diplomats to focus on fulfilling the head of state's guidelines concerning the progressive social and economic development of the country. In his speech the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that Belarus continues facing serious challenges in foreign economic affairs. This is why the main emphasis was laid on detailed analysis of foreign economic efforts from the point of view of individual regions and countries. It was noted that it is important to increase the export of merchandise and services in accordance with the national program on developing and supporting export in 2016-2020. Taking into account instructions of the Belarus president priority attention was paid to implementing promising investment projects in Belarus using foreign capital.

Prospects of advancing cooperation with Belarus' main partners — Russia, the CIS states, the European Union, countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America — were closely looked at.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted it is necessary to give a brand new impulse to Belarus' consolidating initiatives in the United Nations Organization. Vladimir Makei called for putting forward new ideas aimed at consolidating efforts of international organizations for the sake of resolving pressing global challenges and threats.

Tasks were formulated in anticipation of the major international forums that will take place in Minsk in 2017. Those include the annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and a series of events relating to Belarus' presidency in the Central European Initiative.

Following the established tradition, the conference touched upon ways to improve the operation of consular services of Belarusian diplomatic missions abroad for the sake of protecting rights and interests of Belarusian citizens.
