Belarusian delegations to visit Iran, Sudan for sessions of intergovernmental commissions

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) - The 14th session of the joint Belarusian-Iranian mixed commission for economic cooperation will be held in Tehran on 22-23 January, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 18 January, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian delegation will be headed by Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk. He is scheduled to meet with Iran's first vice president, the ministers of oil and agriculture, and representatives of the business community.

According to Dmitry Mironchik, the economic cooperation between the two countries has been developing rapidly. In January-November 2017 the trade amounted to $142.6 million, which was up 3.2 times as against the same period of 2016. “Bilateral contacts are expanding steadily to cover the new areas. The first meeting of the Belarusian-Iranian working group on cooperation in healthcare will be held in the run-up to the meeting of the intergovernmental commission,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

Khartoum (Sudan) will host the 4th session of the Belarusian-Sudanese commission for cooperation on 23-24 January. The Belarusian delegation will be led by Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik. The parties will review the status of the agreements reached earlier and will discuss promising projects in trade, industrial cooperation, agriculture, energy, geological prospecting, mining and other fields,” the spokesman said.

The Belarusian delegation is set to meet with members of the Sudanese government, including the ministers of oil and gas, foreign affairs, trade, water resources, irrigation and electrification.

Belarus' major industrial companies will showcase their products at the Khartoum international fair that wil lbe running these days.
